Frozen Cherry Margarita

Ingredients
 
 

  • 2 oz blanco tequila
  • 1 oz triple sec
  • 1 oz lime juice fresh
  • 1 oz cherry simple syrup
  • 4-5 dark cherries fresh or frozen , pitted
  • 1/2 oz cherry liqueur (optional)
  • 1-2 cups ice
  • Salt or sugar for the rim (optional)
  • Fresh cherry or lime wheel for garnish

Instructions
 

  • Rub a lime wedge along the edge of a glass and dip it into salt or sugar.
  • In a blender, combine tequila, triple sec, lime juice, cherries, cherry simple syrup and cherry liqueur (if using.)
  • Add a cup ice. Blend until smooth. Add more ice if needed for a thicker texture.
  • Pour into the prepared glass and garnish with a cherry or lime wheel.

Notes

Cherry simple syrup

  • 1 1/2 cups fresh or frozen cherries
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup granulated white sugar
  • 1/2 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon almond extract
  1. Combine cherries, sugar, water, lemon juice and almond extract in a small saucepan over medium heat. Stir until the sugar dissolves completely.
  2. Remove from heat and let cool to room temperature. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
