Lemon Drop Cocktail
Elien Lewis
The lemon drop cocktail is a tangy, refreshing drink that combines citrus and vodka. I like to add a little extra lemon flavor by rubbing lemon zest into the sugar to release its oils before rimming the glass.

Rub lemon zest into sugar to release the oils, then rub the rim of a chilled martini glass with a lemon wedge and dip it into the zest-infused sugar.
Fill a cocktail shaker with ice and add vodka, lemon juice, and simple syrup.
Shake well until chilled.
Strain into your prepared glass.
Garnish with a lemon twist or wedge.
Always use freshly squeezed lemon juice for the best flavor.
Simple syrup is equal parts sugar and water, heated until dissolved, then cooled.
The triple sec adds a subtle orange note. If you don't have any, you can leave it out and add a splash more simple syrup instead.
For a frozen lemon drop, blend all the cocktail ingredients with a cup of ice instead of shaking.
Adjust the simple syrup to taste. Start with 3/4 oz (20 ml) and add more if you prefer a sweeter drink.
For an even more lemony version, try my limoncello lemon drop martini .
