Crush freeze-dried strawberries into a fine powder and mix with sugar. Spread it onto a small plate. Run a lime wedge around the rim of your glass, then dip it into the strawberry-sugar mixture to coat.
Fill a short glass with ice and pour over tequila, triple sec, fresh lime juice, and homemade strawberry syrup.
Give it a stir and garnish with a fresh strawberry or lime wedge.
Notes
Always use fresh lime juice for the best flavor. Bottled lime juice won't give you the same bright, balanced result.
Strawberry syrup can be made ahead and stored in the fridge for up to 2 weeks. Find the full recipe here.
If you can't find freeze-dried strawberries, a classic salt or sugar rim works too.
For a spicy version, muddle a few jalapeño slices in the glass before adding ice and the other ingredients.
This recipe is easy to scale up for a pitcher. Just multiply the ingredients by the number of servings you need.
