Elien Lewis
This strawberry margarita on the rocks is fresh, fruity, and so delicious. It uses a homemade syrup, and a freeze-dried strawberry rim.

Ingredients

  • 2 oz tequila
  • 1 oz triple sec
  • 1 oz lime juice fresh
  • 1 oz strawberry syrup
  • Ice
  • Freeze-dried strawberry and sugar for the rim
  • Fresh strawberry or lime wedge for garnish

Instructions

  • Crush freeze-dried strawberries into a fine powder and mix with sugar. Spread it onto a small plate. Run a lime wedge around the rim of your glass, then dip it into the strawberry-sugar mixture to coat.
  • Fill a short glass with ice and pour over tequila, triple sec, fresh lime juice, and homemade strawberry syrup.
  • Give it a stir and garnish with a fresh strawberry or lime wedge.

Notes

  • Always use fresh lime juice for the best flavor. Bottled lime juice won't give you the same bright, balanced result.
  • Strawberry syrup can be made ahead and stored in the fridge for up to 2 weeks. Find the full recipe here.
  • If you can't find freeze-dried strawberries, a classic salt or sugar rim works too.
  • For a spicy version, muddle a few jalapeño slices in the glass before adding ice and the other ingredients.
  • This recipe is easy to scale up for a pitcher. Just multiply the ingredients by the number of servings you need.
