The Alexandra Cocktail

The Alexandra cocktail is a luxurious and creamy drink. It’s perfect for the holiday season or as a decadent after-dinner treat. It’s a blend of dark rum, coffee and cocoa liqueur.

The Alexandra Cocktail is like a variation on the classic Brandy Alexander, but only really in the sense of the name. It has dark rum and coffee liqueur instead of brandy and offers a depth of flavor that’s both complex and satisfying. It blends rum’s robustness, the sweet notes of chocolate from the crème de cacao, and the coffee-infused richness of coffee liqueuer all smoothed together with cream.

Ingredients

  • Dark Rum: The backbone of the cocktail, providing a rich, warm base.
  • Crème de Cacao liqueur: Cocoa liqueur adds a layer of sweet, dark chocolate flavor.
  • Coffee liqueur ( like Khalua or Tia Maria): Infuses the drink with a coffee liqueur twist.
  • Cream: Balances the spirits with its smooth, velvety texture.
  • Nutmeg: A sprinkle on top adds aroma and a hint of spice.

Method

  1.  In a cocktail shaker, pour 1 1/2 oz dark rum, 1 oz creme de cacao, 1 oz Kahlua, and 1 oz cream. Give it a dry shake.

  1. Add ice to the shaker and shake well until the mixture is thoroughly chilled.

  1. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass like a coupe or martini glass.
  1.  Lightly grate nutmeg over the top for a fragrant finish.

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ oz / 45ml dark rum
  • 1 oz / 30ml Crème de Cacao liqueur
  • 1 oz / 30ml Coffee liqueur (like Khalua)
  • 1 oz / 30ml pouring cream
  • Ice
  • Fresh nutmeg to grate on top

Instructions

  1. In a cocktail shaker, pour dark rum, Crème de Cacao, coffee liqueur, and cream. Give it a dry shake.
  2. Add ice to the shaker and shake well until the mixture is thoroughly chilled.
  3. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass like a coupe or martini glass.Lightly grate nutmeg over the top.
