Strawberry Limoncello Spritz

This strawberry limoncello spritz is a yummy twist on a classic spritz with the addition of fresh strawberries and limoncello liqueur.

A strawberry limoncello spritz is a perfectly balanced sweet and sour cocktail with the sweetness from the strawberries, the depth of Prosecco and sourness from the limoncello. Topped off with soda water to finish off this spritz, its a delicious summer cocktail.

Ingredients

Here is a rundown of what you will need:

  • 2 fresh strawberries and a fresh lemon slice: These will get mashed and macerated with 1/2 teaspoon of sugar to extract all their flavor.
  • 3 oz (90 ml) Prosecco: Prosecco is a light and bubbly Italian sparkling wine. It’s what gives the spritz its refreshing, celebratory feel.
  • 2 oz (60 ml) Limoncello:
  • 1 oz (30 ml) soda water: Adds a bit of extra fizz.
  • Ice cubes
  • Strawberry slice and lemon wheel: For garnish.
  • Fresh basil or mint leaves: For garnish (optional).

Instructions

  1. In a cocktail shaker, add the fresh chopped strawberries, lemon slices, and sugar.

  2. Slowly pour the Prosecco over the strained mixture, followed by the soda water.

Variations

  • Swap strawberries for raspberries: Raspberries make a great substitute and you can add a few fresh ones as a garnish as well.
  • Add a strawberry sugar rim: For an extra touch, coat the rim of the glass in a mix of sugar and freeze-dried strawberry powder. Run a lemon or lime wedge along the edge, then dip the glass into a small plate of strawberry sugar.
