Strawberry Martini

This strawberry martini combines the sweet flavor of strawberries with crisp gin. An elegant fruity drink.

The star in this cocktail is the addition of a homemade strawberry simple syrup. It is super easy to make with just water, sugar and strawberries (fresh or frozen!) Once you have made it, the syrup can also be used in all sorts of other strawberry cocktails and mocktails.

Ingredients

Here’s what you need. Find the full recipe in the printable recipe card at the bottom of this post.

  • 60 ml (2 oz) gin: A London dry gin works well, bringing a crisp, clean taste to the cocktail.
  • 30 ml (1 oz) strawberry syrup: This homemade simple syrup gives the sweet strawberry flavor to the cocktail.
  • 15 ml (1/2 oz) lemon juice: Freshly squeezed lemon juice helps to balance out the sweetness.
  • Fresh strawberry: For garnish
  • 1/2 tsp freeze-dried strawberry powder + 1 tsp sugar: Optional but I use this to make a pretty strawberry sugar rim.
  • Ice

Method

  1. To start, rim the edge of a martini glass with lemon juice, then dip it into the freeze-dried strawberry and sugar mixture to coat.
  1. In a cocktail shaker, add the gin, strawberry syrup, lemon juice, and ice. Shake well until the mixture is chilled.
  2. Strain the mixture into the prepared martini glass.
  1. Garnish with a fresh strawberry on the rim of the glass or floating in the drink.
  2. Serve immediately and enjoy your strawberry martini!

Variations

  • Swap strawberries for raspberries: Raspberries make a great substitute. Create a raspberry simple syrup instead and then add a few fresh raspberries on a toothpick as a garnish as well.
