Aperol Ginger Beer Fizz

I love this Aperol ginger beer fizz. Aperol and ginger beer is such a good combination. The bitterness of the Aperol and the spice of the ginger work really well together, and the lime keeps it fresh and balanced. It’s low ABV and really easy to make.

About this recipe

This is a simple built drink with Aperol, fresh lime juice, and ginger beer over ice. The Aperol brings its characteristic bitter orange flavor and that vivid orange color, and the ginger beer adds fizz and a spicy warmth that complements it really well. A generous amount of fresh lime juice stops it being too sweet.

Use a spicy ginger beer rather than ginger ale – the heat from the ginger is part of what makes this drink so good. For more Aperol ideas, browse my Aperol cocktail recipes.

Key ingredients and why

  • Aperol: The base of the drink. It’s bittersweet with a great orange flavor. Low in alcohol at 11% which makes this a great low-ABV option.
  • Ginger beer: Use a proper spicy ginger beer rather than ginger ale. The heat from the ginger is a big part of the flavor.
  • Fresh lime juice: Cuts through the sweetness of both the Aperol and ginger beer and keeps the drink balanced.

Method

  1. Fill double rocks glass halfway with ice.

  1. Garnish with an dried orange slice .

Tips

  • Spicy ginger beer over ginger ale. Ginger beer has much more heat and depth. Ginger ale is sweeter and milder.
  • Stir gently after adding the ginger beer so it stays fizzy.
  • Fresh lime juice only. Bottled tastes flat in a drink this simple.
