Blue Lagoon Mocktail

This blue lagoon mocktail is sweet, citrusy, and that color is just really fun. It’s made with homemade blue Curaçao syrup, fresh lemon, and lemon-lime soda, and it comes together in two minutes.

About this recipe

This is a non-alcoholic blue lagoon made with homemade blue Curaçao syrup, fresh lemon juice, and lemon-lime soda. The blue Curaçao syrup is what gives the drink that a goregous color and a sweet, mild orange flavor. It’s not as complex as the alcoholic version but it’s genuinely delicious and works really well as a mocktail. The lemon-lime soda adds fizz and a citrusy sweetness, and the soda water balances it out so it’s not too sweet.

The syrup is easy to make at home with orange peel, sugar, and a little blue food coloring. If you haven’t made it yet, the full recipe is at blue Curaçao syrup. It keeps for up to a month in the fridge and you can use it in a blue Hawaiian mocktail too. For more alcohol-free drink ideas, browse my mocktail recipes!

Key ingredients and why

  • Blue Curaçao syrup: The whole point of this drink. My homemade version uses orange peel for flavor and blue food coloring for that iconic color. It’s sweet with a mild orange citrus flavor.
  • Fresh lemon juice: Cuts through the sweetness and brightens the drink. Always fresh.
  • Lemon-lime soda: Adds fizz and a citrusy sweetness. The soda water alongside it stops the drink being too sweet.
  • Soda water: Balances the sweetness of the lemon-lime soda. You can adjust how much you use depending on how sweet you like it.
