Cherry Spritz

This cherry spritz is a simple, bright and bubbly drink. It’s great to serve for a group for when you pop open a bottle of bubbles.

A glass of red cocktail garnished with a sprig of rosemary and a cherry, sitting on a light surface. More cherries and rosemary are scattered around. The backdrop is a soft beige, creating an elegant and refreshing presentation.

A spritz typically combines sparkling wine , a liqueur, and soda water to create a light, bubbly, and refreshing drink. The classic ratio is roughly 1 part soda water, 2 parts liqueur and 3 parts sparkling wine. Because the cherry liqueur I used is quite sweet without any bitterness or tang to cut through, I’ve switched to using just 1 part liqueur and have increased the soda water to 2 parts. I add a little fresh lemon juice to it as well to balance it.

Why You’ll Love This Recipe:

  • Effortless. It’s really simple but the bright cherry liqueur adds awesome color.
  • Bright and refreshing. The cherry liqueur and lemon juice add a perfect tangy-sweet balance.
  • Customizable garnishes: Make it your own with cherries, mint, or rosemary. I like the color contrast of a green herb with the red cocktail.

Method:

  1. In a large wine glass or spritz glass, add ice, the cherry liqueur and fresh lemon juice.
  2. Pour in the chilled prosecco and soda water. Stir gently to combine.

Variations:

Tips for the Perfect Cherry Spritz:

  • Always use chilled Prosecco and soda water to keep the drink crisp.
  • Gently stir to preserve the bubbles.
