The chocolate strawberry martini

A chocolate strawberry martini is a creamy dessert cocktail made with vodka, chocolate liqueur, Baileys Irish cream, strawberry simple syrup, and a splash of milk. It’s easy to make at home and comes together in just a few minutes.

The combination of chocolate and strawberry is classic for a reason. The strawberry syrup adds a fruity sweetness that balances the rich chocolate, and the Baileys makes everything creamy and smooth. It’s like a chocolate-covered strawberry in cocktail form.

For an even more intense strawberry flavor, you can use strawberry-infused vodka instead of plain vodka. It adds another layer of berry sweetness that pairs beautifully with the chocolate.

Key ingredients and why

  • Vodka: A neutral base that lets the chocolate and strawberry flavors shine. Plain vodka works well, or use strawberry-infused vodka for more berry flavor.
  • Chocolate liqueur: This is where the main chocolate flavor comes from. Godiva, Tempus Fugit, or any chocolate liqueur you like will work.
  • Baileys Irish cream: Adds a creamy, indulgent layer that makes this taste like dessert. It’s what gives the drink its smooth, velvety texture.
  • Strawberry simple syrup: Brings a fruity sweetness and a pretty pink color. Homemade tastes best, but store-bought works too.
  • Milk or half and half: Adds extra creaminess and lightens the drink a bit so it’s not too strong. Half and half makes it richer an just milk keeps it lighter.
  • Chocolate sauce: For drizzling inside the glass. It looks beautiful and adds extra chocolate flavor.

Method

  1. Drizzle chocolate sauce inside a martini glass.
  2. Add ice to a cocktail shaker. Pour in vodka, chocolate liqueur, Baileys, strawberry syrup, and milk.
  3. Shake until the mixture is well-chilled then strain into the martini glass. Garnish with a strawberry.

Tips

  • Chill your glass. A cold glass keeps the chocolate drizzle from melting and helps the drink stay cold longer.
  • Use good chocolate liqueur. Since chocolate is a main flavor here, the quality matters. Cheap chocolate liqueur can taste artificial.
  • Cut the strawberry into a heart shape. Slice the strawberry in half lengthwise, then cut a small V at the top to create a heart. It’s a nice touch for Valentine’s Day.
  • Adjust the sweetness. This is a sweet drink by design, but if you want it less sweet, cut back on the strawberry syrup or skip the chocolate drizzle.
